Darcey Barraclough is a visual artist and illustrator based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
She earned her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2009 and later expanded her academic background with a BS in Biology from Millersville University in 2017. Her artistic practice is deeply influenced by this dual expertise, as she frequently seeks to bridge the gap between scientific observation and creative expression. Her work focuses on botany, animals, bones, and unusual objects, utilizing these elements to explore storytelling through themes of contrast, conflict, and animal expression.
Currently, she divides her time between the pursuit of science and art, aiming to integrate the two functionally within her illustrations. In addition to her studio practice, she maintains an active presence in the art community through her online shop, where she offers original works, fine art prints, and curated goods. Her portfolio is defined by a curiosity for the natural world and a commitment to capturing the emotional resonance found in the intersection of nature and human sentiment.
